To apply for a Long Term Residence Permit and Cyprus Citizenship, in accordance with the current Aliens and Immigration Law, it is necessary to provide a certificate of knowledge of the basic elements of the modern political and social reality of Cyprus. It is issued based on examinations conducted by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth of Cyprus twice a year.

Registration for this exam is open from January 8, 2024.

This exam is mandatory to apply for permanent residence in Cyprus. This requirement is set out in the current Aliens and Immigration Act.

Closer to the exam date, an email notification will be sent to the email address you provided when registering for JCCsmart indicating the exam time and location. There will also be a list of documents that you need to take with you to the exam.

The exam itself takes about 45 minutes. The first exam was held on July 1, 2023 and consisted of 24 questions.

Exam in Greek. With 50% or more correct answers, the exam is considered successfully passed.

The results are published on the website of the Ministry of Education. If you successfully pass the exam, the certificate will be sent by mail to the address specified during registration.
