Cyprus government issues bonds
The recent issue of bonds by the Republic of Cyprus was aimed solely at compensating for changes in the fiscal balance and significantly strengthening the state reserve fund due to the negative effects of COVID-19 on the Cyprus economy. This was stated in a statement to the Public Debt management Office.
According to this statement by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, the issue of 7-year-old and 30-year-old European bonds on April 7 took place as part of the Annual Financial Program 2020. This program has recently been revised to compensate for the loss of fiscal income due to the economic consequences of the pandemic.
