Cyprus Economy Is Growing
The government is determined to continue its serious and responsible policy on the economy, said on Wednesday Cyprus’ Deputy Government Spokesman Panayiotis Sentonas.
Sentonas made a statement that the economy of Cyprus continues to grow, and the government makes up for what citizens lost in difficult years.
He added that the latest data from the Statistical Service and the European Commission for Cyprus confirm that economic growth is now stably high (at 3.2%). The same trend will exist in the future.
The result was not long in coming – Cyprus has the highest surplus in the European Union – 2.8%.
Sentonas also said that sustained economic growth leads to a sharp drop in unemployment. So, according to Eurostat, Cyprus ranks second in Europe in reducing unemployment over the past year.
“In order to continue to make progress, we must work collectively to implement the basic reforms necessary to create a modern state worthy of the expectations of our citizens and our European identity,” he said.
